CHAZ as a Microcosm of Humanity

- 1 min read

As I was reading the first book of the Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis, (Out of the Silent Planet). A parallel occurred to me.

In the summer of 2020, a group of agitators occupied part of the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle Washington. They set up barricades and declared the space an “autonomous zone”, initially calling it CHAZ (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone).

This mob kicked out all governing authorities and proceeded to occupy the area for a short time. Initially, ambulances were not allowed in, police were not allowed in and the corrupt local government was at a minimum, tolerating it.

Murders began to happen, as well as rapes, and thefts. After a few weeks it was renamed to CHOP (Capitol Hill Occupied Protest) and finally forcibly disbanded altogether.

This is the situation of humanity before God. Instead of a neighborhood, it’s the entire world. This is why the The Gospel is good news.
